Holly and Mike’s Napa Valley B.R. Cohn Winery wedding was a California dream! From the crisp white getting ready bungalows, to the gorgeous olive grove where the couple shared their first look, to the jaw-dropping amphitheater ceremony spot overlooking the vineyards, and to the sweet open-air reception space showing off the loveliest sunset- this wedding is what dreams are made of! This gorgeous Midwest couple were joined by their family, friends, and sweet pup Shea as they celebrated the beginning of their Happily Ever After!
The more amazing opportunities I have to document couple’s weddings of various cultures and backgrounds, the more I fall in love with the different traditions of love. Carolin & Mike’s beautiful wedding at the Saint James Orthodox Church of Jerusalem and The Westin, San Jose was no exception to this! Their wedding was truly about two families becoming one, with some heart-warming ceremony rituals and lots (and I mean lots!) of dancing at the reception! There were golden crowns, multiple swords, and an extremely talented singer flown in all the way from Haifa, Israel who kept the party going all night long!
Nathali and Victor’s Presidio Chapel and Wayfare Tavern San Francisco wedding was a perfect blend of classic and modern. Of young love and old family traditions. Of serious life commitments and laid-back relaxation. At this wedding, you would find a gorgeous lace bridal dress, complimented with sharp tuxedos and pink bridesmaid gowns, all nestled together with family, friends, and beautiful florals in a lovely white chapel. Head to the reception and you’ll be greeted with amazing, hand crafted cocktails, a traditional American & Norwegian wedding cake, the most delicious family style dinner, and some shockingly epic dance moves from the 90+ year old grandpa! This wedding was truly a night to remember.
Tucked up on a little San Francisco hill, surrounded by towering eucalyptus trees, with a lovely view of the bay flowing down below- this is where you will find Kimi & Sean’s precious ceremony location at the Presidio Chapel. This gorgeous, white stone walled church was the most romantic and intimate place for this couple to say their “I do’s” in front of their closest friends and family. The day was complete with a joyous dinner at the Presidio Social Club and the dreamiest sunset photos of the couple, now husband and wife, snuggling in the glow of the setting sun.
Splashes of vibrant red & cherry, towering green and golden redwood trees, a sharp royal blue suit, and a stunning lace dress. Add in tons of love and laughter, a bag-pipe player AND a cellist, a special pair of chop sticks, the best First Look I’ve ever seen, and a family who really knows how to get down on the dance floor. This was the making of Vanessa and Ismael’s magical, colorful, joyful wedding at The Mountain Terrace in Woodside, CA.
It was a beautiful, sunny summer day in the Northern California wine country. Tucked into a little corner of Yountville, Addendum restaurant was prepping to have a very special wedding on their grounds. This cozy outdoor eatery, complete with rows of thriving garden beds, tall redwood trees, flowers and fruits trees blooming throughout was being transformed into a magical, one of a kind wedding venue. Fifty of Eliza & Dan’s closest friends and family gathered into this sweet, private spot to celebrate this couple’s commitment to one another.
My favorite laughs are those that come from deep within. One that isn’t afraid to be seen or heard – it is just unapologetically joyful. This is what made me fall in love with my amazing couple, Kristin & John. Their smiles and their laughs are so genuine, so one of a kind, so beautiful, that they can light up an entire room. I was so honored to witness them and their loved ones enjoy the most wonderful day together at their Wedgewood Redwood Canyon wedding in Castro Valley.
Stars, and rockets, and moons- oh my! When Lauren mentioned to me that she was having a celestial themed wedding, I was so pumped! It was the natural theme of choice for these two extremely intelligent, space-loving scientists. Nestled into a grove of giant redwoods at Pema Osel Ling Retreat Center, a beautiful wedding was about to take place with surrounding natural beauty complimented with splashes of blues, purples, plenty of glimmering stars, and a few very precious rings.
We pulled into the quiet, small neighborhood of Laura’s parent’s home. Giant redwood trees stood above us with afternoon sunlight streaming in between the massive trunks. We followed the road past sleepy little houses backing to a slow moving but peaceful stream. The house couldn’t be missed- with its beautiful white dinner tent set up out front, candles lit and market lights a glow. Soon that tent would be full of happy friends & family, full bellies, and an endless night of laughter.
The sun beamed down on my little rental car and a circled the block looking for the best place to park. A gentle breeze ruffled the overhead palm trees and they swayed slowly back and forth. I could smell the salt of the ocean nearby. Was that the sound waves crashing down I hear? I must be close to the coast. But this wasn’t the Northern California coast I was used to….
We’ve had nearly two solid months of rain here in the Bay Area, so when hair & make-up artist Rachel Lusk invited me to photograph a styled session she was putting together up at the River Terrace Inn in Napa within a few weeks, I was crossing all my fingers and toes that the skies would behave with us.
